Disputable Matters
July 9, 2020
If you were attending Northview services or watching our messages on-line this Fall, it is highly likely that you will remember Pastor Jeff’s sermon based on Romans 14:1-12 entitled “Disputable Matters”. Describing conversations that he has had with other Christians regarding Coke Zero, the Keto diet, parenting strategies for teaching your child to sleep through the night, homeschooling vs public school vs Christian school, sugar and aspartame, practicing yoga and playing football, Santa and the Easter Bunny, Jeff made it abundantly clear that good Christians often disagree about disputable matters.

In January, 1921, George Washington Carver testified to the Ways and Means Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives on behalf of the United Peanut Growers. Slowly Improving

I’ve never been a good golfer. I like playing, but I’m terrible. It’s a weird bit of golf etiquette to talk about how bad you are- but believe me, this is no false humility (if you need corroboration, then ask Pastors Jeff, Darcy, Vic, or any of the other Pastors at Northview who have had the misfortune of playing a round with me). And yet, I love the game and want to get better.

I paused by my favourite field on my bike ride this morning. It’s hot for early June, and unless I was riding into the wind, the heat and humidity were relentless. I stopped by the field, though, to take a swig of water and snap a picture.
