FRASER VALLEY GLEANERS- Fraser Valley Gleaners takes donated produce and makes it into dry soup mix to feed the hungry around the world. Circles meet once a week for activities such as going out for coffee, creating a budget, accessing the food bank, or attending a fitness class. Ultimately the goal of the Circle is to build positive relationships, decrease social isolation, and support participants as they reintegrate with the community. We are looking for volunteers to form the Circles, as well as a couple of Program Support Volunteers who will support the Program Associate in the initial stages of this pilot project. CORRECTIONAL SERVICES OF CANADA- Correctional Services of Canada is seeking volunteers in the Fraser Valley to support adult males who are serving their federal sentences in the community. LIFE’S SECOND CHANCE THRIFT STORE (SUPPORTING LIFE RECOVERY ASSOCIATION)- Money made from the store supports 4 houses for women at various stages of addiction recovery. We are in need of men and women to help move merchandise. There are jobs for everyone. Shifts are usually 4 hours Monday-Saturday (9:30-1:30 &1:30-4:30). CANUCK PLACE CHILDREN’S HOSPICE- We are currently looking for Peer volunteers to support at our Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, in Abbotsford. Peer volunteers work alongside the professional care team to enhance the quality of life of the child with a progressive, life-threatening condition and his/her family.
