We have a wide variety of volunteer opportunities available including but not limited to: Cashiers, Greeters, Sorters, Pricers, Delivery drivers, Receivers and Merchandisers. Our volunteers offer their talents and interests to make a difference at home and abroad. We believe that Christians should use their gifts to make a difference in God’s world and are happy to do our part to see the kingdom of God grow and ultimately prosper! Most positions within our thrift store require a great attitude and willingness to serve. There are special requirements for delivery drivers (for insurance purposes) but otherwise, we encourage volunteers to sign up and let us know all of the areas within our store they feel they would be able to make the biggest impact. We then do our best to place them accordingly. We encourage new volunteers to commit to a weekly 4-hour shift to start. CANUCK PLACE CHILDREN’S HOSPICE- We are currently looking for Peer volunteers to support at our Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, in Abbotsford. Peer volunteers work alongside the professional care team to enhance the quality of life of the child with a progressive, life-threatening condition and his/her family. The Peer volunteers are with the children during activities, in the schoolroom, working with arts and crafts, on outings in the community, and generally are there to support the child and family with whatever activities they are doing. YOUTH MENTOR- Mentors needed for vulnerable youth in our community! Archway Community Services is looking for caring and friendly volunteers to spend 2 hr/week one-on-one with youth to provide a non-judgemental relationship where they can have a positive experience engaging in various recreational, community, and pro-social services. Mentors must be 19 years old. A one-year commitment is required and having a vehicle is an asset. HOPE FOR WOMEN- Are you looking for an amazing volunteer opportunity?  Do you have a big heart and you love to serve? Do you have the time to make a steady commitment?  At Hope for Women Pregnancy Services, we serve clients and their families in Abbotsford, Mission, Aldergrove, Langley, and Chilliwack areas. We are non-medical in nature and do not perform or refer for abortions, but provide free self-administered pregnancy tests, options counseling, pregnancy information and support, ultrasounds, volunteer doulas for birth support, and ongoing friendship through our volunteer peer counselors. We also provide parenting support, and baby supplies (e.g. diapers, wipes, formula, clothing, etc.) for up to 2 years after the baby is born. Some of us are trained Post Abortion Counsellors so we offer post-abortion care and counseling for women who choose abortion, or for those around her who may have been affected by that decision. All of these services are free and available to everyone who visits our center and is offered in a completely confidential, safe, and non-judgemental environment. We believe that women deserve to be respected and valued no matter what they choose. We also believe that women have the right to be fully informed about their options so they can make a decision they are comfortable with, not only for the moment they’re in, but for their futures as well. Note that because we invest time in the training of volunteers, we ask that you apply only if you are serious about this commitment.  We do require a commitment of one full day each week and are looking for long term commitments.
