Membership gives believers a sense of belonging. By becoming a member, you accept responsibility for a group of fellow believers and you yourself become accountable to mature brothers and sisters in Christ.
It has been several years since our last membership reaffirmation and so much has happened in the world and in our church. A global pandemic and a new lead pastor are more than enough to disrupt the momentum that has been gaining over the years. And yet, we are confident and excited about where God is leading and what he is doing in and through our church.
As a member, you play a big role in the church and this is your opportunity to consider whether you are still committed to being on mission with us. This reaffirmation process allows you to review what the membership covenant means and to prayerfully decide whether you will continue to partner with Northview.
About the Form
This is ONLY for existing members. If you are seeking information about becoming a member at Northview, see the section below titled “Membership”.
This form may take up to 20 minutes to complete but can easily be done in 5-10 minutes.
This process is an opportunity for us to ensure that we have all of your correct information in our system, which helps us with registrations, tax receipts, etc.
It will also help us get a pulse for the well-being of our members and find out how we can offer support where it is needed.
Reaffirm your membership now by clicking on the link below. NOTE: Each individual member must complete a separate form.
Confession of Christ as your personal Saviour and Lord.
Willingness to submit to the authority of Scripture, and to those placed in positions of spiritual authority.
Baptism on confession of faith. We will not ask for proof of baptism but those baptized as infants, or before they were able to make an informed decision, will be required to be re-baptized. For more information on our next Baptism Class go to northview.org/baptism.
Where a person has previously been a member of another church, a letter of good standing will be requested.
We do not have an age restriction on becoming a member. However, according to our bylaws, you must be 19 years or older to vote at congregational meetings.
Membership at Northview will now be offered through our Foundations course. You will have the opportunity to fill out a membership application at the end of the three weeks, provided you attended all three classes.
In ‘Foundations’, you will learn about Northview while exploring what we believe about God, the Bible, and the Church. Discover where you can get involved and become a part of the Northview community. Foundations consists of 3 sessions and will run multiple times a year. This is meant for everyone – whether you are new here or have been for years.
Next Session: Coming October, 2022
Why Become a Member?
Membership gives believers a sense of belonging (Hebrews 10:23-25).
By becoming a member, you accept responsibility for a group of fellow believers and you yourself become accountable to mature brothers and sisters in Christ (Galatians 6:1-2, 10; Hebrews 13:17).
Membership keeps us legal. The government recognizes churches if they have a credible membership and organization. Obedience to these laws affirms we are responsible citizens with a desire to serve (1 Timothy 3:2; 1 Peter 2:13-17).
Attend the three-session Northview membership course. Our goal is for you, the prospective member, to understand in much more depth the how’s and why’s of our church and for us to have a much better opportunity to know you. If you have to miss a class for any reason, you will be required to make it up the next time classes are run. Once the three-week course is completed, you will fill out the Membership Application.
Provide us with a letter of good standing if you were a member at another church.
Be interviewed by an Elder or Pastor. After you have completed all three classes you will be invited to set up a membership interview with a Northview pastor or elder (engaged or married couples can meet together). Most interviews are held at the church.
