What led you to plant/ replant/ revitalize your church?
Many factors. But the biggest is the need for more Gospel centered churches in the city of Halifax. We have a great lack of churches to begin with. We are also the 2nd fastest growing city in Canada and so the need is great! We have a passion to teach the gospel clearly (one of our core values) and reach people in a relevant way but with the timeless power of the Gospel. We have a passion to reach the post secondary student population and work also with new immigrant families as the nations are coming to Halifax! Also my personal journey to church planting as a pastor and church planting director for this region. I’ve always sensed that the Lord will call me back into ministry in this way. We’ve been waiting and praying for His timing.
How have you seen God working in your church?
We are in the midst of gathering our launch team. We are seeing God at great work already. Particularly around “who” He is calling to join us. We have many people from far and wide discerning a call to come and join us. People from the USA, western Canada (BC), Africa, PEI and of course Halifax. We are seeing God’s favor on us in this way. This has been a great encouragement and piece of affirmation for us. We currently have 50 people leaning in and a part of what we are doing. This year is building a strong firm foundation of gathering a launch team, training and in home gatherings. We hope to launch a regular Sunday public service by Easter of 2023.
What is your connection to Northview Community Church?
My connection to Northview is mostly through Mark Burch but also Jeff Bucknam. Before working for Send Network I was on staff at C2C Network / Multiply. Mark B was my direct oversight and has been a great boss, director and personal mentor to me. I also served on staff for 9 years at Westside in Vancouver. I helped Norm Funk plant that church and so we’ve always had a strong relationship with Northview.
