Spain 2026

Spain 2026 began with fundraisers at Northview’s Mission and Downes Road campuses in January, followed by Central Abbotsford and East Abbotsford campuses in February. Every campus was incredibly supportive and enthusiastic as people lined up after weekend services to support our team through the purchase of churros, samosas, and other treats.

Through your encouragement, financial support, and faithful prayers, our team was able to prepare well for the journey ahead. We looked forward with anticipation to serving alongside Northview-supported global workers, W&S of Abbotsford, who have been faithfully serving in Viana, Spain since 2018.

While in Spain, much of our ministry centered around meeting and speaking with pilgrims from around the world who were walking the 800-kilometre Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route across northern Spain. Each morning, W&S brought their food truck, “Pilgrim’s Oasis,” to a familiar spot along the trail where pilgrims could purchase hot and cold beverages, omelets, sandwiches, and fresh snacks.

It was there that meaningful conversations often began. Pilgrims shared many different reasons for undertaking the journey; stories of loss and grief, stories of healing and new beginnings, and stories of people searching for direction, hope, or peace in their lives. Our team had the privilege of listening with compassion, encouraging them, praying with those who were open to it, and sharing the love of Christ whenever the opportunity arose.

Many pilgrims simply appreciated having someone willing to listen. At times, these conversations were deeply emotional, reminding us that behind every backpack was a personal story and a unique journey. While serving food and refreshments, we were also serving God by extending kindness, encouragement, prayer, and the hope found in Christ.

W&S operate a café in the town of Viana also called “Pilgrim’s Oasis.” Serving one day at the food truck, we would then serve the next day at the café where we’d often see many of the same pilgrims having walked the trail 30km to Viana. It was a joy to welcome them again, reconnect over conversation, and continue building relationships.

One especially meaningful ministry opportunity was offering free foot baths to weary pilgrims whose feet were sore from the long journey. Many were deeply touched by this simple act of care and hospitality. These moments often opened the door for prayer, encouragement, and meaningful conversations about faith and life.

As a team, we experienced moments of joy, laughter, reflection, and deep compassion throughout the trip. Thank you again for your prayers, generosity, and support. Your partnership allowed us to serve alongside W&S and be part of sharing Christ’s love with people from all over the world.
