Our Abundance in Christ

John 16:15

In a thriving marriage, husbands and wives share their resources and tap into each other’s strengths. This principle extends beyond earthly possessions, emphasizing a mutual exchange of every resource they possess.

I value the insights of my wife, acknowledging the unique perspectives she offers as a woman. I draw on her wisdom, knowledge, and spiritual connection with Christ. And since she is always growing, there are continually new treasures to be discovered.

We can draw a parallel in Jesus’ relationship with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus asserts that all belonging to the Father is also His, and the Holy Spirit is tasked with revealing Christ and in Him the riches of the Father. And since the Holy Spirit is sent with a mandate to teach all truth from the Word made flesh and bring glory to Him, He will reveal not only Christ but also the riches of the Father

Jesus said in John 16:15 “All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what He will make known to you.”

Today, Lord, we bow in adoration for the abundant riches of Christ assigned by the Father as He exalted Him to the highest place. It is humanly impossible to comprehend the vastness of these riches but we celebrate the Holy Spirit’s role in revealing and offering them to us without measure.

We confess our human tendency to live spiritually impoverished lives despite the abundance available to us through Christ. Spiritually our pockets are often found to be empty, our souls parched, and our bodies slouched with the cares of this world.

Please help us to find sustenance in Christ for every need, and to meditate on His word, guided by the Holy Spirit, where we will be reminded of the extravagant riches available to us.

Father, we are so grateful for your generosity to us in Christ. Help us to live well-nourished lives through your abundant grace. Help us to find deep inner peace in our troubled world and to share the glorious salvation announced by angels so long ago. We worship you, Jesus, as the Prince of Peace and seek to live in the fullness of your grace.

“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16
