This week, I am ceding control of the newsletter to my two middle children, Mia (Grade 8) and Alex (Grade 6), who are answering some questions about Northview’s upcoming Family Missions Trip to Mexico:

• Where are you going on this missions trip?

MIA: We’re going to Mexico.

ALEX: A city called Querétaro.

• What ministry are you going to be supporting?

MIA: We’re going to be supporting Children of Hope.

ALEX: Which is an orphanage in Mexico.

• What are you going to do on the trip?

ALEX: We’re going to play with the kids, and when they’re in school, we’re gonna go to help around the orphanage, and one day, we’re going to go up to another place on, like, a mountain.

MIA: We’re gonna spend time with the kids there, and also do some painting projects.

• What are you most looking forward to?

ALEX: I’m looking forward to going to the mountain and helping with the people up there.

MIA: I’m just looking forward to seeing all the kids there and getting to know them.

• Why are you going on the missions trip?

ALEX: To support children, Mexico, and to have fun. I’m serving in kids ministry, and then I wanted to help kids in different parts of the world as well, not just at my church. I go to DIP (editor’s note: Disciples in Progress – a Northview Middle School ministry), and it’s a leadership program, so it also encouraged me to go on this missions trip.

MIA: I also think it will be a good experience.

• What special gifts or skills do you bring to the trip?

MIA:  I love doing things with kids and playing with them.

ALEX: I like to interact with kids in our kids ministry so I can bring that skill.

• How can the church support you?

ALEX: You can help us by buying the stuff we are selling at the service this weekend and you can pray for us, to have safe travels and that we interact with the kids nicely and that they have a good time and we have a good time.

MIA: Probably with prayer, and you can help us raise money by buying churros and samosas.

• How much do the churros and samosas cost?

MIA: For samosas, it’s $10 for a bag of three, and churros is $5 for a bag of four.

ALEX: And we are selling them after the service this Saturday night.

• One last question: why are you selling samosas if they’re not Mexican?

MIA: Lots of people like them so they help us with fundraisers!

ALEX: They’re pretty popular.

Our Mexico Family Missions trip is from March 13 to 23 and we are certainly looking forward to your support, especially in prayer. Our fundraiser this weekend is also raising money for a team that will be going to Spain in April on a separate missions trip, which you’ll learn more about on Saturday night as well – look forward to seeing you!
