The Leaders in Training (LIT) Program is where leaders are shaped! This service opportunity is for kids in Grade 5 to be trained and equipped to become servant leaders within a ministry context. This role requires kids to be an example of someone who loves Jesus and wants to serve and worship Him, modeled through serving His Church on a weekly/bi-weekly basis.
Responsibilities and Expectations
Service that shapes the next generation of leaders.
Downes Road, East Abbotsford & Mission:
- Greeters
- Welcome the kids and assist any new people. Look after the offering.
- Actioneers
- Sing and do the actions with the songs. Be willing to pray and help kids during dismissal with getting to correct classes.
- Tech Assistants
- Follow closely with what is going on and show maturity and responsibility around expensive equipment.
- Scripture Readers
- Read Scripture in front of a large group of people clearly and with passion.
Central Abbotsford:
- Welcome Desk
- Welcome families as they come downstairs and help the Check-Ins person as needed.
- Classroom Greeters
- Welcome the kids and assist any new people. Help with the sticker chart.
- Actioneers
- Sing and help lead the actions with the songs.
- Scripture Readers
- Read Scripture passage during Open Session.
- Cleanup Helper
- Help clean up Children’s Ministry areas after the service.

- Positive Attitude: Keeping a positive and uplifting attitude, even in difficult situations.
- Courage: Standing up for what is right, even when it’s not popular.
As part of LIT I will commit to:
- Attending LIT training sessions.
- On the weekends you’re scheduled to serve, be in the NV Kids Check-ins area 30 minutes before the service to receive instruction and pray to be ready for the arrival of kids.
- Be an example of one who loves God and wants to worship Him.
- Have the NV Kids weekly Bible verses memorized.
- Attend the mid-week Bible Class.
- These will happen Mondays starting on October 6th from 3:15-4:30pm
- Kids are placed on serve teams and are scheduled bi-weekly.
- Kids will serve in a role based on their preference in their application.
- All kids will serve at least once in a role different to their preference to challenge them and to support the ministry.
