A burning in the bosom. A still quiet voice. An energy permeating through the universe. An acrobatic woman. Very God of very God. When one thinks of the Holy Spirit, many different ideas come to mind; but what, or who, is the Spirit? And what is his work in the Church, generally, and individuals, specifically? Often when one thinks of the role of the Spirit within the church, the focus is on the charismatic gifts: tongues, miraculous healings, and prophetic words. Yet Scripture’s depiction of the ministry of the Spirit within the church and individual lives is quite different.

We live in an age that attempts to commoditize everything, including experiences with the One True God, but is that how the Spirit works? Is there a magic formula by which we can guarantee an experience with the divine? Over the next six weeks we will look at the person and work of the Spirit and what it means both for individuals and the gathered church.
