NCC Films Presents Outside The Walls

A compelling documentary exploring the role of the Church in modern community.

Set in Abbotsford, British Columbia

This film is set in Abbotsford, British Columbia – one of the fastest growing communities in all of Canada – a city with ever growing social, communal, and spiritual problems. Many Christians living in the “buckle of the Bible belt” question what role the Church should play in the present society. Should the Church be mainly concerned with theology, or should it spend it’s energy practically – trying to serve it’s community however it can?

The film explores what churches and Christians are doing in the community, and addresses what might yet be done. Sixteen influential community and church leaders in Abbotsford are interviewed to hear their perspectives on the matter. From those interviews an intriguing storyline emerges – local evangelical churches are experiences a paradigm shift from defining success in terms of church attendance to a more holistic faith that integrates a verbal communication of the Gospel with practical works.

Outside the Walls is designed to generate discussion, bringing clarity to what missions truly is, and the difference between perception and the reality of what the Church’s role is in the city of Abbotsford.
