Our newest venture for the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana, Africa is to invest $500 per start up in small rural businesses for pastors and church workers. This is to help develop the national workers into a self-supporting and self-reliant ministry over the next two years. Each new business - soap making, bead making, tailoring, barbering, etc. - will require a short-term training course at minimal cost. Each candidate is granted $500 for training, supplies and space rental at the local market for one year. As each business becomes established and produces a profit, the persons helped are required to assist and train an apprentice. Donations are needed to assist the fund, support Pastors ($25 monthly), and pay the school teachers ($50 monthly).
Medical and Outreach Teams will continue traveling to Ghana, bi-annually - early winter, and July. A small local basic dental clinic was established in 2008, with two men who were trained by Northview teams. This is a great blessing for this region, where people had nowhere to go for dental care.
The persons needed for the Ghana Outreach Teams:
Medical or Dental Skills, Teachers to hold women’s seminars, Pastors or teachers for holding Pastors’ seminar, Children’s ministry workers for school outreach, persons willing to share their Christian testimony during Jesus Film showings.
• For the country of Ghana, as it is surrounded by violence in nearby countries, and hi-way robbery is becoming more wide-spread.
• For good health and finances for the trips.
• That the cost of living will not increase too rapidly, as petrol prices are the same as in Canada!
• Guidance and wisdom for the Pastors and leaders of the ministry.
• That the Christian Regional King, Ohmanhene Kudom, (who visited us at NCC) will remain in good health and lead his people wisely.
• That the newly elected, Christian President, Mr. Atta Mills, and The Ashantehene (King), Osei Tutu II will grow in their Christian experience.
