Mission Summary

We were both raised in Christian homes in Southern Ontario. In our youth we were both involved in youth ministry at our home churches and camps.  In our young adult years Don was a Child Care Worker in a Regional Children’s centre for emotionally disturbed children and Gloria was an elementary school teacher. During this time we served in our churches working mainly with youth.  After we were married in 1981 Don returned to university and received a Masters degree in Counseling in Education as well as his teaching certification. He was also engaged in full-time Christian work as a family and personal counselor and both of us led Navigator discipleship training courses. During this time the Lord blessed us with three wonderful children.

In 1988 the Lord called us into missions with Wycliffe Bible Translators and we spent 12 years in Papua New Guinea using our gifts to serve missionaries, their children and the National people. In June 2002 we returned to Canada to take up our new home assignment with Wycliffe at The Canada Institute of Linguistics, (CanIL), Wycliffe’s training school, located on the campus of Trinity Western University. We receive no salary for this but are still totally dependent on the gifts of supporters. We became members of Northview in the Fall of 2004. Don serves as Director of Personnel, at CanIL, and we both do membercare and debriefing with our staff and students. Gloria serves as prayer coordinator for the department.

II Tim 2:2 exhorts us to take the Word of God and “…entrust it to reliable men (and women) who will also be qualified to teach others.” We are now using all that God has built in us to be involved in the process of training up others to go, bringing the sword of the Spirit into parts of the world that do not have it in their heart language.

Prayer Requests

• Pray that the Lord of the Harvest will call laborers into His harvest field.
• Pray for CanIL (The Canada Institute of Linguistics) as it trains people who
  are called to translate the Scriptures into other languages.
• Pray for us as a family, that we may be salt and light wherever we are.
