HOPE FOR HAITI BENEFIT CONCERT

Huge event benefits Mennonite Central Committee’s earthquake response in Haiti.

Abbotsford, BC – It has been several weeks since a huge earthquake struck Haiti, the poorest nation in the western hemisphere. In those weeks, there has been an outpouring of compassion for the people of Haiti, to help agencies respond to the immediate needs of Haitians as they dug out of from under the rubble.

Local realtor and concert promoter, Doug Rempel and Associates, is planning a concert event that will benefit the work of MCC in Haiti. Hope for Haiti Benefit Concert is an all-ages, community event that will include concerts, a silent auction and updated information about what MCC is doing and will continue to do in Haiti.

Many musical acts have already been confirmed including Damian Marshall, Greg Neufeld, Karen Lee Batten, Sterr, Teresa Riley, The Fab Fourever (Ultimate Beatles Tribute Band), Sherrie Erickson, Victoria Duffield, Landon Lucas, Y-Music, De Danaan Irish Dancers, Paxton Bachman, Kristal Barrett, Mark Andrie, Georgia Rain, the Birch Taxis with more acts being added.

The Hope for Haiti benefit concert takes place Saturday March 20th from 1-10 pm (doors open at noon) at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre. Tickets range from $25-$50 available through AESC; visit abbotsfordcentre.ca or call 1 866 977 AESC. For more info visit bc.mcc.org

The Global Outreach Commission of Northview would like to thank you for your generous giving to the relief efforts in Haiti!  Northview has raised over $110,000!

FH Canada has been discerned as the agency that we will work through during this time. 

Here is a statement from FH Canada.  “Because the situation in Haiti is still being assessed and further information is still being gathered, our initial priorities are providing shelter, food, medical aid and water purification. FH Canada’s utmost priority at this time is to develop a strategy regarding how we can most effectively implement our relief funds.

We will be continually updating our project focus as the situation develops. We do know that right now groups on the ground, including members of the Global Relief Alliance that we partner with, are quickly working to stabilize an operations base and provide the food, water and shelter that they can to those in immediate need.”  (http://www.fhcanada.org)
