Jeff, thanks for your message on Sunday. I recently became a father of three children about a year ago, when I married my wife. I have never really understood the power that I have, even possibly as a step dad, in the childrens life.
I feel a little silly mentioning this to you (as I’m sure you already know), but when you spoke of Reuben and him wanting to be the hero, with his position of first born and all, I was expecting you to say more than just what you said. I had thought that there was another reason for his actions. But since you didn’t mention it, I started to think that maybe I was mistaken in my history. But I checked it today, and I wasn’t! Genesis 35:22 is where it’s found. I’m not sure of the significance of Reubens actions in the culture of the time, but I thought that this event would have had a significant impact on his actions with Joseph?
I did know about that incident, Jonathan, and I think you are right that it played a part in Reuben’s desire to regain his father’s love. I didn’t reference the passage, not because I didn’t think it had a part to play in Reuben’s neuroses, but because time was getting away on me. Good work engaging with the text, though. Take care.
To the Pastors,
When I am unable to attend a service, I love being able to hear the word of God from home. The study and prayer done in preparation is outstanding and it definitely shows in the presentations done at the pulpit. Thank you all for the love and dedication shown to God and His people. God bless you all! Sincerely, Lorrie.
subjective question- when joseph hit the bottom of that well, or moved off with those strangers, did his dream die? or was he prepared to endure anything to be himself. as much as he was a moral man he never lost purpose nor the requirement to be himself. so much he was like our King and so much we can be like him.
Dear Jeff: An important reminder for me, father of a 12-year old boy who spent three years in Calgary with my wife while I worked in China. We’re now together in China. Your message was forwadrded to me by a good friend, Mr. Ken Rooke of Abottsford. A great blessing ideed that I can hear your teaching here in China. Praise the Lord!
Thank you for such a wonderful message. I am so happy to be able to watch it at home since I was unable to attend this service. My husband and I are continually moved by the sermons you speak and always discuss them during the week as they pertain to our lives. We want you to know how much we appreciate you. God Bless.

A person would be wise to consider that they may setting someone up for a lot of grace being poured out on the life of someone they mistreat.
