The Middle School Weekend Discipleship Class

For Students in Grade 6-8!

Higher Ground classes will start up again on the weekend of September 17/18

Higher Ground classes take place during the weekend services… Wait to be dismissed prior to the sermon. Higher Ground meets in the portables in the back parking lot.

Higher Ground is a time for middle school youth to dig into the Bible; to learn & study God’s Truth. It is an opportunity for students to discuss what it means to have your life anchored in a Biblical worldview.

Some thoughts on teaching the Bible from Youth professional Andy Blanks “…First, make sure you are teaching your students the “big picture” of Scripture. Students don’t know the Bible because we don’t teach it to them. We teach them a passage here, a verse there. Teenagers will never get the macro view this way. They will never understand God’s redemptive story unless we teach the Bible that way. Second, don’t forget context. Try hard to place every lesson you teach in the context of its surroundings. Who wrote the book? When was it written? Why was it written? Where does it come in the overall timeline of Scripture? Teaching contextually helps your teenagers better understand both the specific passage they are studying, and its importance in God’s grand scheme. Third, hammer home the application. If your students aren’t applying what you teach, they might as well be reading a history book. Help them understand how the specific spiritual truth you are addressing can change their lives.”

Two-Week Bible Reading Plan

Notice that each day’s reading has a title and a question. These are application questions that will help you as you read. Always pray before you read and ask God to help you understand, obey, and apply his Word to your life.  ***These are great Bible passages for you to read with your parents or an older brother/sister & spend time discussing the verses and questions.
