1 Samuel 8 - When God is not enough, we set up a “king” to govern our lives.

Despite Samuel’s warning, Israel chooses the allurement of safety and visible confidence of a king while rejecting the life of faith required to live under the rule of God.

1 Samuel 7 - Israel mourns their sad state – but before God will work on their behalf, their worship needs to be purified of it’s mixed allegiance.

Is it possible that we too could be guilty of worshipping other gods?

The Philistines gets more than they can handle when they steal the Ark of the Lord from Israel.

1 Samuel 6:1-21 describes a God that can fight for himself.

After the Philistines captured the Ark, they presented it to their god and things didn’t work out as they had hoped.

1 Samuel 5:1-12 argues that there is only one true God.

People fall away from the faith all the time, but there are sign posts along the path of which we can be aware of.

1 Samuel 4:1-22 names these sign posts and describes them.

1 Samuel 3:1-21 - Can you hear?

When God chooses a person to impact a nation, he calls a young boy who is positioned to listen to God’s voice.

1 Samuel 2:12-36 Compares Eli’s sons to Hannah’s son.

The comparison is stark. We learned through the passage about fatherhood, judgement and the faithfulness of God.

1 Samuel 2:1-11 contains one of the most beautiful prayers in the bible, from a barren woman who God gave a child.

In the prayer she talks about God’s sovereignty, his justice and his concern for the underdog.

1 Samuel 1:1-20 - A woman who’s heart is broken, because she has no children.

It teaches how God answers prayers and the challenges of infertility.
