Why is the cross so central to Christianity? There were other options for a symbol, why choose the cross?  The cross won out in the end because it is the climax of the story.

Too many of us – we think God the goal of God’s good story when he fixes my marriage, restores my economic picture, … reunites my family. That is good - but there is a bigger story going on. This world is not our home.
