She Loves

Dear Friends,
This year’s Women’s Ministries Theme – She Loves – certainly captured our imagination. We learned about and internalized the love of Jesus, the One and Only. We sought God for ways to give that love away:
• The weekly Prayer groups gave love through intercession.
• The Swap loved through sharing what we have.
• The Home Tours gave love through the Abbotsford Food Bank.
• The Christmas Party gave love through Best for Babies.
• The Beth Moore Simulcast gave love to women in our community and in Guatemala.
• The MOMS program gave love to young moms.
• The Oasis program fulfilled our values of loving God and one another.
• The Commissioning Brunches loved women in education, in medical services, with home businesses, and in child services.
• The Discipleship and mentoring groups loved the generations.
• The Childcare Program loved families by loving their children.
• The Women’s Worship events gave love to our Almighty God.
• The Solidarity Crosses gave love to our brothers and sister that are being persecuted.
• The Rice Raiser gave love both locally and globally.
• The Imagine Spa loved moms with special needs children.
• The Healing Hearts, Understanding your Valiant Man, and Freedom Session Support groups gave love to the hurting.
• The Women’s Missions’ Trip gave love to those in Mexico.
Just imagine!!!
God has made our ordinary lives extra-ordinary because of his love for us. Like the Psalmist said:
Psalm 145 (NIV)
1I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name forever and ever.
2 Every day I will praise you and extol your name forever and ever.
3 Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.
4 One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts.
5 They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty, and I will meditate on your wonderful works.
6 They will tell of the power of your awesome works, and I will proclaim your great deeds.
7 They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.
8 The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.
9 The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.
10 All you have made will praise you, O LORD; your saints will extol you.
11 They will tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might,
12 so that all men may know of your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
Also I was thinking and praying about how we can continue to give God’s love to others over the summer. How about committing to doing one “out-of-the-ordinary” thing each week? There is something about stepping out of our normal that helps us focus less on ourselves, that helps us depend on God, and that helps us move closer to being like Jesus. What could that look like for you, for me, for us? What “out-of-the-ordinary” thing could you do this week? Please share your ideas with me or with your friends. Together we will change our world.
SHE LOVES by Tammy Brown (Tammy, you are an amazing example of someone who loves God and others. Thanks for this song.)
Verse 1
It’s seven pm the work day is done
But she’s off to change her world
Today it’s to clothe, tomorrow to feed
There’s always a need to fill
People say she’s so different
Might be the smile she wears
One thing they all agree upon
Her life shows how much she cares
Chorus
She Loves (how she loves)
To give of herself till there’s no more to give
She Loves (how she loves)
To empty herself of everything
Like Jesus, She loves
Verse 2
The African heat oppresses the land
Still she relents to go
Open her arms and comfort the poor
How could her heart say no?
The famine, disease and ignorance
Outweighs her common sense
This is her reason for breathing
To love like Jesus did
Chorus Bridge
When you give your
Life up for your friend
There is no love
That can surpass this
When you pour out
All you have for Him
You’ll hear Jesus
Calling you His friend
Verse 3
It’s Sunday again, she’s first to arrive
And can’t believe how time fly’s
She smiles at the door as little ones run
Eager to hear once more
How a great man from Galilee
Gave up His will for the lost
She’s overjoyed with the privilege
To tell them what it cost
B Chorus
He Loves (how He loves)
To give up his life so that others may live
He Loves (how He loves)
To lavish on those who have nothing to give
It’s Jesus
She Loves……
