Why become a Member?
Membership gives believers a sense of belonging (Hebrews 10:23-25).
By becoming a member, you accept responsibility for a group of fellow believers and you yourself become accountable to mature brothers and sisters in Christ (Galatians 6:1-2, 10; Hebrews 13:17).
Membership keeps us legal. The government recognizes churches if they have a credible membership and organization. Obedience to these laws affirms we are responsible citizens with a desire to serve (1 Timothy 3:2; 1 Peter 2:13-17).

Membership Qualifications
Confessions of Christ as their personal Saviour and Lord.
Successful completion of Northview membership class and interview with authorized person(s).
Baptized (by immersion) on confession of faith.
Evidence of a regenerated heart by a consistent, separated walk.
Agreement with Northview’s confession of faith, mission, vision and core values.
Willingness to submit to the authority of Scripture, and to those placed in positions of spiritual authority.

How Do I Become a Member?
Membership at Northview is based on the ‘Membership Qualifications’ and by completion of the appropriate membership form.
Where a person has previously been a member or attendee of another church, a letter of transfer or similar evidence of good standing will be requested.
All members will have the opportunity to reaffirm their membership with Northview every two years.

FAQ’s for the Bi-Annual Reaffirmation of Membership

What are the general instructions to complete reaffirmation?
Northview will send out an email or make available a membership reaffirmation form to each member.  If there is more than one member in your household, each member will need to respond separately. This link (http://northview.org/mr2012) / form will include the church membership covenant and some additional questions.  Members can either submit their on-line reaffirmation or send back their signed reaffirmation and completed questionnaire. 

This process will begin February 4, 2012 and close at the end of the month.  If we do not get an email or completed form back, we will go through a follow up process to ensure each person who is a member of Northview is accounted for.

What if I am not a member, and would like to become one or I just became a member, do I need to reaffirm?
If you are n/ot a member of Northview and would like to become one, please contact the office or go to http://www.northview.org/membership to find out when the next membership class is held.  Northview currently holds three membership classes a year.

If you just became a member you will still be required to reaffirm your membership recognizing that this process happens every other year.

Are there any extenuating circumstances given for members and reaffirmation?
We do realize that there are certain situations that might limit someone from completing the membership reaffirmation on time. The Elders have approved types of serious exceptions and given permission to request an extended grace period. (E.g. Students away for the semester or missionary out on assignment.)

I never received my reaffirmation email or form, what should I do?
The on line reaffirmation is available at http://northview.org/mr2012.  If you know that your contact information needs to be updated, please contact the church.

If you need a hard copy of the membership reaffirmation form, you can either pick one up at the church or we can send one out to you.  The deadline for reaffirmation is March 4th.
 
What happens if I do not reaffirm?
If you choose not to reaffirm, we will respect your wish and remove you from our list of participating members. You may receive a call from NCC to follow up with your decision.  If you should decide to join at some future date, you will need to go through the usual participating membership process again. We welcome your feedback.
