Wisdom or bit of advice: An intelligent man learns from his own mistakes, but a wise man learns from others’ mistakes.

Spouse: Cheri (since 1990). We were on the same softball team in 1988. She pitched and I played shortstop. I asked her on our first date in the middle of an inning while she was on the mound. She undoubtedly thought I was coming to the mound between batters in order to give her some of my vast baseball insight. Hah! Might be the only time I’ve seen her flustered. She did say “yes” though.

Children: Jodie (1993), Camden (1996) and Brenna (1998)

Education: BA in Business Administration from Trinity Western University in 1987, law degree from UBC in 1992.

Hope and Vision for Northview: That it would be a place where we would learn more about God, but more importantly, a place where we would learn to know God more.

How I got involved with Northview: Cheri and I moved to Abbotsford in 1994, we knew two of the pastors already, we got ourselves plugged into the music ministry and a life group, and the rest is history.

A few of my favorite things: Being with our kids at their sports/music events, reading Agatha Christie novels, and watching three sports teams that have never won a thing: the Canucks, Mariners and Seahawks.

Favorite preacher: Jeff Bucknam and Carlin Weinhauer

Favorite author: Mark Buchanan and John Grisham

Favorite kind of music: 70’s pop/rock and roll. From Sweet Comfort Band to the Moody Blues, and anything in between.

Hometown: Who knows. By the time I’d finished high school I’d lived in 10 different towns throughout 4 different provinces and 2 different states! Having now lived in one city for 15+ years is easily a record for me.
