Soar Team Montreal Day 9

Post from: Alex Baker
Hi my name is Alex, and I’m going into grade 9 at ASIA in Abbotsford.
Me and my mother, Megan Baker, joined the Northview team and became part of the family. We are both so blessed to be a part of this wonderful caring team.
Every day it gets harder and harder to wake up, as we get more and more tired. The breakfast this morning was eggs, sausages and toast, which made Brandie sick. Then we had worship and lunch. The bus was on time for once and we left around 12:15 to go to Terrebonne, but we went to the wrong place and had to drive for another ten minutes to the Salvation Army, where the France team, Pacific Grace and three from our team, Jessica, Kris and Brandie got out.
The majority of our team went to a family’s house and painted and cleaned various different things. The family we helped out is going through some hard financial times, and the basement in their house has lots of leaks and water problems. It’s a family of six that live in basically the upstairs of their house…which I think is like 900 square feet. The woman from the church (Martine) said it would cost about $40,000 to fix the basement, which is a lot of money.
The people at the Salvation Army had to open up board games and check for all the pieces there and that it still worked. After all our hard work, we got to go to Patrice’s house and swim.
When we got back to the college it was time for worship, and my brave mother got up and spoke in front of everyone there, telling them about how well our team has bonded over the last while and has become like a family.
Everyone is having so much fun here in Montreal, and doesn’t want the last day to come. I know that it will be a very sad last day L .
Have a wonderful day and hope to hear from you soon,
Alex Baker
