Love

Making Amends

Dear Friends,

You have heard me talk about what I have been learning through Freedom Session in a few devotionals. A couple of weeks ago we were given two tools that I want to recommend to you. It is my hope that you will use these tools to gain your own freedom and, if you have children, to help them gain theirs.

The author of Freedom Session says that the word “can’t” means one of two things, either you won’t or you don’t know how. Let me say it again. Saying “can’t” means either that you won’t or you don’t know how. This certainly applies to making amends for what we have done.

She Loves

Dear Friends,

This year’s Women’s Ministries Theme – She Loves – certainly captured our imagination. We learned about and internalized the love of Jesus, the One and Only. We sought God for ways to give that love away:
• The weekly Prayer groups gave love through intercession.
• The Swap loved through sharing what we have.
• The Home Tours gave love through the Abbotsford Food Bank.
• The Christmas Party gave love through Best for Babies.
• The Beth Moore Simulcast gave love to women in our community and in Guatemala.

Love That Endures

His love endures forever.
His love endures forever.
His love endures forever.
His love endures forever.

Psalm 136 repeats this phrase 26 times like a continuous refrain in a song. Israel used it to remember who God is and perhaps to bolster their faith during hard times. Could this work for us?

Think about 3 different times in your life when you knew God was moving on your behalf, when he was demonstrating his love to you in tangible ways.

Write them down in the spaces provided and then read the whole section out loud.

His love endures forever.

His love endures forever.

His love endures forever.

What happened in your heart as you read it? Did thanksgiving bubble forth? Did you feel a renewed sense of confidence? Maybe ask your family to give you a few more examples and read those with the phrase following.

Now let’s take this a bit further. Write in the spaces provided 3 burdens or hard situations that you or those you love are currently facing. Then read it out loud.

His love endures forever.

His love endures forever.

His love endures forever.
