How I got involved with Northview: I have been going to Northview since I was a kid and it has always felt like home to me. I saw the advertisement for an internship in Women’s Ministries I didn’t think I’d get it but I decided to apply anyway. I spent my first year here interning in Women’s Ministries and am now the Administrative Assistant for Women’s Ministries, as well as Men’s.
Education: I have finished my first year in the Intercultural Studies program at Columbia Bible College.. I would love to continue with Bible School and pursue studying theology.
Hometown: Abbotsford, BC
What I am truly passionate about: God has given me a passion for people and a passion to create. I love to see people for who they are and the unique way that God has created them and that inspires me to be creative on my own. I feel alive when I am worshipping God through just creating something. It is my dream to use those passions to serve Him in missions, whether that is close by or far away.
My favourite church memory: When I was really little I used to dance in the aisles during the worship and we would always go to a bakery and get fresh bagels after church.
A few of my favourite things: I love God. I think my husband is pretty fantastic. I love to be creative, I love to garden, I love to read! I like to cook and bake, I like to clean.
What I’m reading right now: I am reading a few different books…, some theology; a history book on the Great Partition of India.
Favourite kind of music: I love so many different kinds of music. I love folksy music, but I also like classic rock, and just plain classical (Beethoven, Mozart etc.) I love jazz. I love music from around the world.
I like this quote: “When life gives you lemons, make orange juice and have them wondering how you did it.”
My idea of the perfect day: My perfect day would begin with waking up in a Chateau in the Alps in Switzerland in spring. The mountains would be covered in wildflowers. I would be with my husband Alex (because he is necessary for the perfect day). Then we would eat a breakfast of bacon, eggs, fried tomatoes, toast, and a hot cup of tea. Then I would go for a walk alone in the mountains spending some time with God. Then we would step on over to England where Alex and I would tour a few castles. Then we would head over to a bookstore that carried leather bound books, hundreds of years old, all first editions. Then the bookstore owner would give me some because he is just that generous. For lunch we would have some sushi in Okinawa, Japan, on a boat on the ocean. We would spend the afternoon in India or Morocco (depending on the weather) meeting interesting people (of course we would naturally speak the language). I would buy some beautiful fabrics that were hand woven just for me. (They knew we were coming) For dinner we would go to an ancient Irish “restaurant” where we would eat hot beef pies. Then, we would hang out with some friends and watch a movie, laughing our heads off and staying up late.
